Found a good opinion piece over on the Fox News website on what America’s role should be in Haiti. Kinda reminds you of the Democrats’ pledge to never waste a good crisis.

Things I Use: Lunarpages Webhosting

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

In case you were wondering (and couldn’t tell by the affiliate ad), my webhost of choice is lunarpages. While searching for a suitable webhost for a site I was building, I discovered that my host at the time did not allow streaming media content without a rather large extra charge. This would not do, as part of the reason for the site was to post streaming media. In my search I came across lunarpages, and was impressed by what they offered with their accounts (in other words, the ability to stream media was included).

When I contacted their sales team with various questions about their plans and service, I was even more impressed with their prompt and courteous replies that included, “If you decide to sign up…” There was no pressure to buy, but it was obvious to me that they were the host I had been looking for. Not only did I pick lunarpages to host the site I was building, I also switched my personal hosting to lunarpages as well.

I have never had any reason to regret or rethink my decision to go to lunarpages. All of my support issues have been handled promptly and politely, and the only site issues I’ve experienced were my own fault. The only thing I don’t like about my lunarpages account is the inability to use special characters to create strong passwords. Only alpha-numeric characters are allowed. This was also the case at my last hosting company, but I do not know if it is a systemic weakness with cPanel or discount webhosting as a whole.

If you’re interested, most of their plans include a free domain name as well as $700 worth of free software and bonuses. You can also get Google AdWords and Facebook Ads credit for signing up!

DISCLAIMER: While I AM part of lunarpages’ affiliate program, and I DO get paid if you click their link on my blog and purchase a hosting plan, lunarpages has not in any shape, form, or fashion offered me compensation for or made a request for a review of their services.

Another year, another blog…

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Well, it’s 2010, and that means I started this blog almost two years ago. Inspired by the likes of RightFaith, IMAO, BLACKFIVE, and others, I decided to start a conservative-leaning blog as a way to highlight goings-on in the world that I believed to be important . (Hence the tagline: “All the news you already know, and some you don’t.”). Not only was it going to be an inspiration to millions, it might make me a little cash on the side.

To say it was an abysmal failure would be unfair. The honest truth is that I failed to put any time into researching or writing anything (or even administering comments) for this blog. My big idea had succumbed to laziness and distraction.

Convinced more and more each day that America will go swirling down the drain if the public doesn’t heed every shoot-from-the-hip, uninformed, half-formed idea that pops into my head, I have decided to restyle and relaunch ‘Thrash’d’ as an opinion blog with the tagline: “This is my opinion, and if I like yours, I might take it, too!”

Believe me, I have an opinion on everything from religion to politics to foreign relations to common sense to how you (yes, sir, you in the back) should order your steak.

So sit back, buckle up, put your seat-backs and tray-tables in their upright and locked positions, and prepare to be underwhelmed!
